I think a lot of people would agree that it's the absolute wrong measure to take, but do you think that a parent should have legal authority to send their gay kids to conversion therapy for the sake of promoting/instilling heterosexuality in the kid?

It's their waste of money they're spending on therapy. Their loss.

No! But since conversion therapy is not a scientifically supportable practice and is condemned by professional psychiatrists and psychologists, it would fall under hokus pokus (otherwise called religion) and that is why parents retain a right to mess up their gay adolescent's head.
And I have seen beautiful gay youths get messed up by trying to convert and fit in with others' expectations in their limited community.

Nope. Parents shouldn't have the authority to push any kind of lifestyle therapy or programming on their kids.
