Your worse birthday

Have you had a birthday that sucked?

Yeah. I had become overweight and broke and could only fit a few dressy things in my closet--all summer clothes. And I was stressed out because both parents insisted I visit them--on two opposite sides of town. I asked for no cake because I was fat, and ended up with two big ass cakes that I ended up carrying to my ex's house because nobody wanted them.

We went out to eat later and I ended up crying in the bathroom because after all that running around, I was just tired and mad that nobody listened to me! Back at my ex's place, his neighbors asked us to come out with them. I went to change clothes, realized AGAIN that I had none, and started crying some more!! Complete and utter FAIL.

(This ties with the night before one birthday that I got stinking drunk, lost my brand new phone at Waffle House, spent a good portion of my birthday morning searching for it, finally said fuck it and reactivated a shitty ass phone so I could make the breakfast my dad forced me to go to across town in the freezing rain where my brother acted a complete ass and at the end of the day, I came out my pocket $250 because I didn't get insurance and all for WHAT, because everyone called the NEXT day mistaking me for a New Years Eve baby.)

(This also ties with one bday in college when I was supposed to go out with two of my closest friends and, after getting fully dressed and made up with 1 hour to spare, BOTH of them cancelled with BS excuses. I found two other people go to with last minute, but damn, my feelings were something kind of hurt.)



I'm bitter about my bday LOL.

Before I stopped caring about the grandiose aspect of birthdays....not really. I did spend one birthday traveling on a bus all damn day to get back home. I guess that would be the one.

I honestly can't remember some of my birthdays anymore, 14 and 15...but I don't recall ever having a bad one.

My worst one was when I turned 29. My daughter was 4 months old, had just gotten diagnosed with retinoblastoma (eye cancer), and we had to drive her out to Boston on Valentines Day (my birthday) in a blizzard, to have the radiation oncology department do their exams they needed to do to get her treatment ready, which was in the form of a radioactive implant that was placed behind her eye.

That was the shittiest day ever, since we were surrounded by adult cancer patients in the waiting room, who were ignoring their own plight to express their sorrow for us, having a newborn there.

But having gone through radiation myself, years later, I understand them now--you spend so much time in that place with the same group of people who are on the same schedule day after day, that you get to know them, form a camaraderie and it becomes a form of support.

Just about all of them after 25.

1 sticks out in my head. It was when I turned 23, I was out of town and WAS NOT a good experience. Shit fuckin sucked!

My 24th kind of sucked. I didnt do anything.
