Do you have any large trees in front of your house, or apartment window? Do you like having large trees surrounding your house, or would you prefer your yard to be without one?

We do, and it's something I've always been used to. If there isn't a tree, I would plant one, just not too close to the house.

Re: Trees in front of your house
Yes, I have two big ass trees right in front. When I first moved in I thought all the trees in the yard were so nice. Then that winter we had a horrible ice storm. Trees fell all over the city. I lost a couple but those two are still there & worry me every time we have wind & rain.

Re: Trees in front of your house
The only tree in front of our house is a flowering plum tree, and it's actually the neighbor's.
I do NOT like a lot of trees around a house! I want to feel the sun, not shade it.
We have a large old-growth Doug Fir tree behind our house (neighbor's, not ours) and I hate the damn thing. It shades the back too much and makes it difficult to garden. And should it ever collapse during a storm, our house will be toothpicks.

Re: Trees in front of your house
I have a large maple in the front and one on the side. We leave them for shade and to allow the roots to soak up some of the ground water to help with flooding issues when we get tons of rain or a big snow-melt.
Everything else, we've had cut down because there were too many trees, they were too messy and fall clean up was much more of a chore than it is now, with 150+ bags of leaves each year in the past.
We lost a bunch of trees in an ice storm back in 2008, and that was our impetus to drop the rest of them after that clean up. Now, we still have trees that border the property, but belong to the neighbors, so I can't really do anything about those, but at least the yard waste volume is significantly reduced.

Re: Trees in front of your house
Yeah I got a large one right in the front yard....meh. Don't really care. It just becomes a hassle to rack up the falling leaves in the fall.

Re: Trees in front of your house
Not technically in our yard, but neighbors have a tree that the leaves and such cross into our yard.

Re: Trees in front of your house
We got one in our yard and I don't like it because I am always the one that has to rake leaves.
