Christmas trees
We had to put ours up today. Because my wife said we did. If you have one, is it arty ficial or do you buy a corpse? I think we're on our third fake one in 29 years. They look pretty good and we've saved a lot of money over the years and frankly, they don't look any worse (better than some) than a formerly live tree. We tried a new arrangement in the living room and although we still had to put one of the end tables in the back room, we do have a little more room to maneuver.

Re: Christmas trees
Today my neighbor asked me the nearest place to get a live tree. I couldn't even think of a place! We have used fake always. I don't like all the needles of a real one. My son had a real one in his room one year and I did not like the needles at all.

Re: Christmas trees
Usually do the corpse. If you get them from a tree lot rather than a store they're fresher. Then have them take a little off the bottom before you take it home. It's what I do & I've never had a problem with needles. The main pain with them is the watering. If you don't water them regularly the bottom will seal & not take water in.

LOL, tell her, "the woods". And yes, I know you can buy a live tree roots and all to plant after you put the decorations back in the garage or attic. I know someone who tried that but they wound up with a corpse anyway. It would be a cool thing to do if you had a house with enough land. Live memories of Christmases past.

Re: Christmas trees
We always get a real tree, we tried an artificial one one year and it didn't look anymore believable than a toilet brush. We get ours from the grocery store but they don't have any in yet.

Re: Christmas trees
The first 2 years in my house I had 12 foot real trees, lot of work keeping them alive and all those needles were a mess but it smelled so nice. I then got a 12 foot artificial tree that I used for a couple of years, had tree timming parties and it was fun, a lot of work but fun. Now I am down to the 4 foot tree which takes a lot less time to put up.

Re: Christmas trees
We currently have a seven footer. Goes up in no time. There's a remote corner of my neighborhood where the maintenance dept. dumps the natural trees after the tenants put them out with the trash. Always smells so nice over there for a while.

Re: Christmas trees
Our 4 ft fake tree won't go up until about a week or 2 before Xmas. There are quite a few people around here who already have their Xmas lights up and on. I'd rather wait until it is at least December.

Re: Christmas trees
i bought a beautiful fake one last year.. all new ornaments... looked like one of the store displays... i havent even thought about it yet with everything else that has been going on in my life i have to buy some decorations for work too... usually i buy the little stockings and put our names on it... or one big stocking for each shift to put candy canes in them.

You're sure they weren't just left up from last year?

Re: Christmas trees
My son and I put our small fake tree outside last night. I NEVER decorate this early, but since it's for outside, we did it early. We wrapped fake gifts for around it and put mean notes inside should anyone steal boxes of rocks. My son's 13 so the note part of it was the highlight for him!

(but I just hope no one sends the rocks back to you through your window.)

I bought my parents one of those small live trees one year. Dad planted it and it's still there and growing nicely.

Re: Christmas trees
Don't have a tree and prob. not going to buy one. Unless my mother and sister come up for Christmas. If I do buy one, it's going to be fake.

Re: Christmas trees
My roommates have a fake tree they haven't put up yet.
Growing up we've always had fake trees. I prefer fake ones.
