Which would you prefer?

I got the idea for this post after reading some of the responses to the 'should a man hit a woman back' thread. If somebody hits you, but you think you can take them, would you rather file assault charges on them or hit them back to even the score?

The latter. Filing charges is too tedious, with a bunch of statements and gets too convoluted with who did what and why. Knocking someone out is quicker and more instantly gratifying.

That's the way I see it too.

And, here's something else to think about...now, everybody always says I'm wrong when I bring it up, BUT, why is it back when in school kids could punch each other, they did, whereas today if you hit another kid you're arrested for assault and battery, and they're taking guns to school and blowing people away? There really wasn't much of that back when hitting a bully was the obvious solution to a problem, but today...I don't know, I think there might be a connection somewhere.

If I had to choose between the two, I would hit them back.
