I would buy a tricked out mansion somewhere where it's warm year round, an expensive car, then toss a couple million my moms way and invest the rest.

I would buy big a million dollar home for myself, plus a few additional condominiums elsewhere. Buy my parents a home. Launch a business. Travel. Donate 5% of it to charity, then invest the rest.

Since I would take the annuity instead of the lump sum (fuck that, the lottery is going to pay me every penny of that 50 mil):

1. Take a much needed vacation, either Tahiti or Bora Bora.
2. Come back home and look for a really nice condo or townhouse.
3. Throw the rest in the bank.

The first two but I don't think the lottery commission will let you collect $50 million anonymously. They're going to want to see some I.D. I would keep a real low profile though and take whatever steps to guard my privacy.

I'd give myself time for the shock to wear off first, which could take a little while. I would definitely NOT want my picture included in the media, and like Forgiveness Man, I would keep it low-profile to ward off long-lost relatives. (The leeches are the one thing I would dread.)

1) RETIRE! Immediately!
2) Buy health insurance, since this is the only reason I couldn't opt for early retirement.
3) Pay off debt and do the home improvements necessary.

Honestly, I think most people who win big jackpots, you'll forget about their asses eventually (unless of course it's your family and friends). It's not like they're celebrities. I wouldn't remember the face of the folks who won the the last Powerball if they walked down the street. I still wouldn't want to be photographed, but if I had to....I wouldn't care.

I'm not concerned about people like you and me who don't give the winners of large jack pots a second (or even first) thought. But for $50 mil, I think there would still be plenty of people wanting a piece. I'm not saying I would try to vanish off the face of the earth. Let's just say I'd keep a low profile.

kind of hard keeping a low profile when friends and relatives all of a sudden want to be your best friend.
