The schoolyard bully is a tolerated concept from the past, when boys and men were expected to settle differences by fisticuffs and dueling. It should no longer be tolerated by a more sophisticated society.
School is a place to learn, both academics and social skills. There will always be scofflaws and bullies, but in a civilized society we try to keep them in check.
If a man came and threatened me or hit me, I would make a police report, drag his ass thru the courts and try to have him put in a cage like you do with unsocial animals. It is against the law to threaten and hit ppl.
That should be extended to kids in school - bullies should bear the consequences of their anti-social behavior. Maybe not as serious as felony battery that they would face as an adult, but what better time to learn where their life will lead.
