At what point in a dating situation do you think it is acceptable to become exclusive? After a month, three months six months? Does it just matter on the people involved?

I agree with cheaps, but I would add to that that it probably shouldn't happen sooner than a month of dating.

Because it's just two people enjoying each others company. There's nothing wrong with dating more than one person at a time. Every person you date doesn't have to be a potential life partner.Forgiveness Man wrote:If I am gonna date somebody, but they are gonna date other people, what's the point? lol

I don't have much history of dating. Back in my youth, it was meet someone and if you hit it off, have sex with them. If you really liked each other you would meet up for sex again - and both knew you could be having sex with others.
At some point you might decide to move in together and that would usually mean being exclusive - but not always, depending on what agreements were made to that point.
Not saying this would work for most ppl's mindset of relationships, but it worked for me and my peers in the early '70s in New Orleans. You had to have been there.

@ CeCe: If that's all it is, than I am not really dating them. We're just friends no different than any other friendships. Dating without being exclusive is an excuse to avoid commitment. If we're not exclusive, we're not really dating.
