I bought a cat tree today as a christmas present for my kitty. Its 5 feet high and i wrestled with it to get it in my mustang... driving home with half of it hanging out the car. I was so excited cause i thought for sure that he was going to jump on it as soon as i got it in place. He smelled it, walked around it, and looked up at it then walked away. I decided to place him on it to get him used to it---- didnt work.

    Damn cat couldnt care less!

There is a spray out that smells like cat nip, try spraying the cat tree. The other thing is that it must be very sturdy, cats won't use a tree or scratching post unless it is good and heavy.

A familiar scent might draw it to it; when we put our cat in the old dog house we put in towels and blankets that smelled like my mother, and for extra measure put a tiny bit of wet cat food on them as well for extra scent, that did the trick.

Yeah I heard that rubbing catnip on it would get their interest going.
