| To everyone who lives in a house, is it one or two story?
To everyone: which do you prefer; one level or two?

| One story.
I really don't mind either one. If I had to choose, it be a one story.

| I guess mine can be considered both--it's a split level, or "raised ranch" as some call it, and depending on your definition of "basement", you could consider the lower level, a second living space. My entire lower level is finished off, so I consider my own home to be a two level.
I do prefer that style, though, because without a formal cellar, it prevents you from accumulating things and keeping a lot of useless crap that will eventually earn you a starring role on "Hoarders: Buried Alive".

| Single-story but only because the basement/large crawlspace was never finished. It still has stairs to the house.
For personal living I much prefer single-level.

| My house is 3 stories, but NYC Department of Buildings says it's 4 stories because of the garden apt or English basement as it's listed.
I love my house. I've lived here since I was 7. I have no mortgage and since I rent out the garden apt, it pays my taxes.

| Two story and I don't like it. I would much prefer one. Or a split level. Something without as many stairs would be ideal. It just seems to take forever to clean and put things away. Plus, it costs more to heat. | |
