I hope I'm not alone in this. I've been having an ongoing 'discussion' with somebody for a few days, if you had a choice between having a semi-'normal', loving, stable family and were happy but 'poor', or having a completely crappy life from childhood on and that was solely to become rich, which would you choose? You know what, I'd rather be poor in the street with my loved ones than have millions of dollars and a life that's so empty that's the ONLY thing that I cared about.

Your comparisons were not about living on the street with a loved family vs. having money. Not sure what you are asking exactly.
Honestly, I am grounded and I could handle either but I would like to have a trust fund to carry mine.
I had a friend from high school who never did anything. She is a trust fund baby. She ended our friendship in December 2010 when her druggie ass carried on in my front lawn. So, I know first hand money in not the ticket to happy. But I would like to try and think I would do better.
