| You'd need the subtitles for this one. This French film was shown on TCM's imports a few months ago, Francois Truffault bringing to life on the silver screen the (for the most part) true story of Victor of Aveyron. I'd first heard about Victor on a TLC special about feral children for a college assignment. He'd been discovered living in the wild in 1798 and a doctor kept him in his home and let his housekeeper raise him, and tried to teach the boy to talk but he was unable to learn. However the movie instead shows the doctor constantly pushing the boy, striving to make success with him and to make the child civilized. I did not see the whole movie but thought it was pretty good, and appropriately disturbing as well. His is a tragic story either way you look at it. Has anybody seen this one? | |

| I believe I watched most of this on TV several months ago. In subtitles, and it was pretty good. I didn't realize it was a true story. | |

| Oh yes, very sad. Once the doctor found out that Victor couldn't learn to speak, he gave up on him and left him to his housekeeper to raise. She kept him with her until he died at the age of 40. | |
