Watermelon Man (1970) Empty
PostSubject: Watermelon Man (1970)   Watermelon Man (1970) EmptyThu Jul 08, 2010 7:06 am

Tonight/this morning, I watched Watermelon Man. It's a comedy-drama from 1970, directed by Melvin Van Peebles, about a bigoted White man who mysteriously turns Black. It's held up well for a forty year old movie, and it is kind of interesting to see a comedy from that era give its take on race issues and relations. I saw it on TV when I was a kid, probably twenty years ago. Thought about it last night, Google searched it and found the *entire* movie posted on YouTube. It was pretty good.

"The Uppity Movie"! Godfrey ("you can call me God") Cambridge was great. The plot of the tragic Vic Morrow segment of The Twilight Zone Movie was similar. G.C. had a seriocomic role in The President's Analyst (1967) starring James Coburn.
