Will we see the apocalypse in our time?

Screw that Mayan December 21st 2012 crap, but do you think any of us will witness the end of the world within our own lifetimes?


Whatever the apocalypse is going to look like...my belief is in the rapture that those of us who are saved are not going to be present for the most part. But I'm no expert on the subject and there seems to be some debate over whether the people disappear just before everything gets really bad, or if we go through a hell on earth first, that's worse than anything we've dealt with before, and then disappear. However either way I'm sure we'll be present for the beginning of the end and get a good idea of what chaos and destruction we'll be in for but I don't plan to be here for the end of it. Probably every generation is the same and just doesn't have the tunnel vision to see anything past their own existence, but I do look for it to happen sometime while I'm still alive.

It's possible a large enough asteroid or comet could hit the Earth.

The increasing folly of America towards embracing some ultra-secular totalitarian dictatorship definitely starts bringing up fears of the "hell on earth" thing. But ultimately, I'm not one to buy into the "world is ending" propaganda. Maybe it will end in our lifetimes, or maybe it won't. Every generation since Christ has had people speculate that they are the end. I take the Bible at it's word for this one. Christ will come back when he's good and ready and not a second sooner.

I tend to agree with Forgiveness Man. I don't believe we're supposed to know when it happens. And, yes, I think it can happen at any time. Whether I think it's something that would affect the entire world at once, in close succession or more spanned out occurrences, I couldn't say. But I've had this strong feeling for sometime that shit is going to hit the fan in our lifetime.

Interestingly, there is a LOT of similarities between the Mayan warnings and the Bible's.
