Re: Foster Parenting
I have been one for about half a year when I was younger. It was not in a foster care system, just a 10-year-old kid I knew from working with his MR brother. It was a good experience for him getting out of the projects and I guess fulfilled some paternal thing going on with me at the time.
Found some pix - crappy camera in those days.

Re: Foster Parenting
My grandmother and my godmother did for years. I dunno, maybe when I get older I will, but not any time soon.

Re: Foster Parenting
If I did it would likely be to a kid that I knew already, like a friend or relatives child. I can't really see being a regular foster parent and taking in a regular stream of kids.

Re: Foster Parenting
I've heard of some cases where people who were good with the kids and did a great job of raising them still lost them because the judge decided foster parents weren't real parents and sent them back to abusive POS and told the foster parents they shouldn't have gotten attached to the kids they'd spent years raising. I wouldn't want to go through that shit because I'd make that judge eat his gavel.

In fact it almost came to that one year, I took care of my niece and nephew for 6 months straight. She was fucking up pretty bad and the dad wasn't in the picture. We almost had it legalized, to where she would give up custody to me, but she got her act together.
I was willing though.
