Honestly, no. Unless there was something physically wrong with one of us to where intimacy was impossible or difficult.

Being "in love" with a new partner could be difficult but do-able.
But most elders do not remain active and it doesn't appear to affect their love for each other. (Of course, not all elders stop having it.)

I think it can be done. Not everyone has a high sex drive and if two people with diminished libidos get together, I hope they find much happiness. Could I be involved with someone like that? I really don't think so.

Sure but it's not a situation I would find desirable or would easily embrace.
The more I think about it though the more unrealistic it seems. Sex bonds people (no pun). If a couple cares about each other that much, but never do the deed then eventually it's gonna morph into a less of a romance and more of a "companionship".

If you love someone than the most natural thing is to show them how much by having sex with them. I would not want to be in a relationship where I love someone and there is no sex, it would not last.
