    I know I have done it before. Can't remember exactly what it was I bought but don't recall having probs with it.

    I've only done that with clothes. Few times they didn't have a shirt or pants on display, and it just so happened the size on the mannequin was my size, so I asked them to take it off.

    With electronics, I would guess the stuff has been banged around and monkeyed with so I steer clear of that. My kitchen table set was a display model. I can't recall the price but it was a killer deal.
