Nope, they're actually quite steady. Therefore it must be that pesky "gay agenda" again. Inside dirt has revealed that the comic book industry has been secretly working with GLADD and other prominent members of the GLBT community in an effort to "normalize" homosexuality in mainstream society and slowly influence children to be gay. The idea is that once enough children read about their comic book heroes suddenly turning gay and "saving the day", the children themselves will eventually convert to the homosexual lifestyle, emulating their heroes. The story will be revealed in an upcoming expose on Fox News.Forgiveness Man wrote:Are comic sales that poor that they need a headline stunt? lol

Why not just create a new character who happens to be gay, rather than change one who is established?
i dont know, i think we bombard kids with too much "adult" issues as it is. and yes i do think it is more of a political agenda than something that needs exploration. I can understand books/media being geared towards teens who may be struggling with their sexual orientation--- i personally can't imagine how someone might have to struggle with such revelations... but pushing issues just to push them is ridiculous.
should supergirl now get pregnant, and need a kryptonite enriched abortion? should batman capture a serial killer and then debate the death penalty? i know.. green lantern will now discuss how he was incestually molested by the HULK and they can all go to therapy together!
let kids be kids... they have enough shit to deal with without all the adult issues. but for some reason Aquaman was the one who always made me think "homosexual" LOL

Well the word is out, the Green Lantern is turned!
Now here was MY take on this...personally I don't care, I say to hell with any and ALL romantic angles in comics, I don't pay for that, I pay for the mystery and the action and all that...but anyway, isn't taking a well established character that's been in comics for over 50 years and suddenly making them a gay character like, TURNING them gay which everybody says just does NOT happen? What sense does that make?

not unless they show him struggling with his identity, or expressing his difficulty in coming out.... maybe he will say something like, "Superman, I wasnt sure you would accept me if you knew i was checking out your various bulges and 'package'" LOL

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - Does Blake Lively know?
It turns out Green Lantern is gay. Well, sort of.
After teasing fans that one of its iconic characters was going to come out of the closet, DC Comics outed the lantern bearer this week. Except, it's not Hal Jordan, the ring wearing do-gooder played so forgettably by Ryan Reynolds in last summer's box office flop "Green Lantern" and the man over whom Ms. Lively swooned.
Instead, it is Alan Scott, better known as the original Green Lantern. In something of a cop-out, Scott is only gay in an alternate comic book universe, called the Earth 2 series. In another plane (Earth 1?) he is heterosexual, but has a son who is gay.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, writer James Robinson insists that the whole thing is not a publicity stunt. Instead he maintains that it is part of an effort to make the DC Comics universe more diverse.
"This was not ever meant to be sensational," Robinson said.
"The Alan Scott I'm doing now is that same dynamic, brave, honorable man," he added. "A man that you'd want guarding your welfare, your children, your life, your home. He's willing to give his life for the world. He's everything you want in a hero. And he happens to be gay."
Imagine how much more interesting the "Green Lantern" movie would have been with this guy.

Of course Marvel and Canada paved the way.
From Wikipedia:
Northstar (Jean-Paul Beaubier) is a fictional character, a superhero who appears in comic books published by Marvel Comics. He is the twin brother of Aurora. Through his mutation, Northstar gains superhuman powers, which he uses for the betterment of society. Although originally a member of Alpha Flight, a fictional team of Canadian superhumans, Northstar is later portrayed as a member of the X-Men. He is one of the first openly gay superheroes in American comic books.
And, he marries his BF Kyle.

I never read superhero comics so this is barely above white noise to me. I just think it's all absolutely hilarious. It just continually makes a joke out of itself. Spoofs can really have fun with this.

Well then they failed miserably! If you're going to claim that you're making a major character gay, then make a MAJOR character gay! Who the fuck is "Alan Scott"? Exactly....NOBODY! It was a publicity stunt and the Marvel universe is no more "diverse" now than it was before because nobody reads the Alan Scott Green Lantern comics today! What a tremendous FAIL.Alan Smithee wrote:
