i dont know, i think we bombard kids with too much "adult" issues as it is. and yes i do think it is more of a political agenda than something that needs exploration. I can understand books/media being geared towards teens who may be struggling with their sexual orientation--- i personally can't imagine how someone might have to struggle with such revelations... but pushing issues just to push them is ridiculous.

should supergirl now get pregnant, and need a kryptonite enriched abortion? should batman capture a serial killer and then debate the death penalty? i know.. green lantern will now discuss how he was incestually molested by the HULK and they can all go to therapy together!

let kids be kids... they have enough shit to deal with without all the adult issues. but for some reason Aquaman was the one who always made me think "homosexual" LOL

It turns out Green Lantern is gay. Well, sort of.

After teasing fans that one of its iconic characters was going to come out of the closet, DC Comics outed the lantern bearer this week. Except, it's not Hal Jordan, the ring wearing do-gooder played so forgettably by Ryan Reynolds in last summer's box office flop "Green Lantern" and the man over whom Ms. Lively swooned.

Instead, it is Alan Scott, better known as the original Green Lantern. In something of a cop-out, Scott is only gay in an alternate comic book universe, called the Earth 2 series. In another plane (Earth 1?) he is heterosexual, but has a son who is gay.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, writer James Robinson insists that the whole thing is not a publicity stunt. Instead he maintains that it is part of an effort to make the DC Comics universe more diverse.

"This was not ever meant to be sensational," Robinson said.

"The Alan Scott I'm doing now is that same dynamic, brave, honorable man," he added. "A man that you'd want guarding your welfare, your children, your life, your home. He's willing to give his life for the world. He's everything you want in a hero. And he happens to be gay."

Imagine how much more interesting the "Green Lantern" movie would have been with this guy.
