Why I love summer

I went out to the store tonight and took a long way around past the high school, the swimming pool, the tennis court, the park, and several houses, and of course it's too cold to swim tonight, but the basketball court was full of kids playing, they were all over the park and all over several of the yards. We passed by one where the father was playing a game with three kids and had them running across the yard on their hands and knees like dogs, I don't know what the hell they were doing but everybody seems to be having a good time now that school is out and that's what I like to see. When school's in you don't see the kids around too much, you see them walking home from school in the afternoon, maybe out in the evening walking with their parents somewhere, but that's about it. I loved summer as a kid because it meant freedom to us that we could be out at any time and just play and I love seeing that with these kids too.

I'm jaded. I say, "Get those tykes in a summer camp a.s.a.p.!"

I guess what I am currently annoyed with is older kids trying to act bigger than they are and parents of young ones letting them run all over.
