I never thought I would ever enjoy Ballet until I actually went to see a production. I was totally mesmerized and so relaxed and thoroughly enjoyed it! Imagine what good shape these people that perform are in! Anyone else like it?

Not particularly, but I do admire how hard the dancers have to work to always be in shape for it and get it right.

I've never seen a ballet. The ballet is not something that interests me.

O/T.
There's a show on the CW about the "competitive" world of ballet dancing called Breaking Pointe.
Personally I have no interest in it but can respect those people who spend years getting good at it.

Re: How do you feel about Ballet?
I can look at traditional ballet, but would never attend a performance.
Since 'ballet' means 'dance' I wonder if modern dance is included in that term.
I really enjoy watching modern dance.

Re: How do you feel about Ballet?
I appreciate the discipline in it. It's very stressful and it's definitely a skilled profession. Anyone can learn to dance, but to learn ballet....you have to have been doing it since childhood, damn near infancy. You have to train your muscles so that it takes the form and builds the memory to dance ballet. It's not something I seek to watch, but if a good one came on, I would.

I've never seen one in person, and I never really had the desire to, but I respect the craft and the talent behind it. Some people consider it a sport, because of the training and competition involved in becoming good at it.

Re: How do you feel about Ballet?
I used to be a dancer--took 11 years of ballet/pointe lessons, and wish I'd never quit. When I was 17, I was asked to audition for the Boston Ballet, and I didn't believe in myself enough to think I could make it, so I never went and took the safe road of being the science nerd I am today. Sometimes I wish I'd gone, just to see what would have happened--the whole "road less traveled" thing.

it is a beautiful dream... but consider this: what would you have done when your health problems hit? or god forbid had some kind of a car accident and were no longer able to perform? Now you have your education so you can get work... but who would higher a dancer who can no longer work? would suck
I had wanted to be a gymnast... took classes as a child and once my teacher put me on the uneven bars, my mother feared i would break my neck and that ended that.

Yeah, everything happens for a reason, and I don't regret having become a lab tech, and I still can get off my butt and do some of the ballet moves around the house to stay in shape! And at least things are fulfilling in the sense that it gives me a great feeling, teaching now, to know that I've inspired even just one young person to love lab work as much as I do!
