That's the thing & the point I believe Shale was making. There are people who think True Blood is porn which I find hilarious. For me to be actually called porn you gotta go a little closer to Bolt (if you're not into porn, don't google that lol) The definition is different for different people.

Well Lord knows the libraries run rampant with the cheap tawdry romance novels, especially of the harlequin variety and plenty of other kinds as well, but I don't think that actually qualifies. Now if they started having Playboy in with the other magazines and X-rated movies on the DVD rack, that would be a whole other story altogether.

A local bookstore always has a display of banned books in its window. Guess which books people ask for the most?

Who is doing the banning? The government? Religious organizations? I don't want anyone telling me what I can and cannot read.

    co-signs

and i see no reason why the library shouldnt carry porn--- as long as the person is 18.. who cares?

i had to take a children's lit class and analyze the books for different age groups, considering the vocabulary, rhythm, and cognitive value of the books. You would be shocked at some of the books on terrorism for kids that are in elementary school... it made me wonder at the time whether kids would have nightmares from the stories/pictures.

face palm Ever think there's a practical reason public libraries don't carry "porn" (e.g. the Hustler variety)? Like the fact that half the material wouldn't be returned and the pages of half that was would be stuck together? Someone wants to look at what most of the rest of the world calls pornography? Fine. Go buy it. Don't expect libraries to waste there budgets on it though and say it's being banned.

Thank you Alan. It's funny how people are really trying to be ornery just for the sake of it an actually question what should be considered porn or not in attempts to justify it being in libraries. Don't play stupid. You know what porn is. And a library is definitely NOT the place for it.

It happens. I usually catch my typos after the fact, but I don't bother going back and correcting them. You know what I meant.

I know it's no big deal. I never bust people's chops when they do it. Only when they make a funny mistake. Like Chris asking if anyone would take a drug that prolonged death.
