It was a sports board/general forum where I was the moderator. I have told the story before how the Administrator was a tyrant and basically tortured the members.

I can't remember exactly when I got into forum boards but got involved with some electronic debates on the usenet in the mid '90s usually in the form of e-mails with lots of cc, where everyone responded.
I was on some Star Trek sites with discussion boards back then, can't remember which. These were the sites that had no pix, just text in courier (like this)

Ha. I remember Netnoir.
I joined some newsgroup back in the 90's and I've been on IMDB since 2000.

The History Channel, it is still there but isn't anywhere as good as it once was and they changed it so it also isn't as easy to navigate. After so many changes some years ago everyone left and went to IMDB, with a few who started their own board.

my first boards were way back in the late 80s early 90s before the net, we dialed into people's computers directly as a local BBS. There were several back then that i would frequent, and we were mostly teenager who would meet up and hang at the mall or have bbq in a park

Rarely. It's been at least a year since I last checked the groups out; I use Google groups. Back in the late 90s/early 00s, AOL used to have their own newsgroup section that allowed access to Usenet, and that was great. Then AOL nixed their newsgroups and we had to use Google, which sucked. I used to post at the RATSA soap newsgroup.

You can use your own IP to access the Usenet groups. Its a great place to download tons of music and movies and pictures.
