Look at Mike Bloomberg, he made his own rules and is in office for 3 terms when its only supposed to be 2.
Mike Bloomberg...= Mikey Blumberg?
Hmmmmm, I wonder...

It's my opinion that elections are very little anymore voting FOR anybody, you just vote against the SOB you don't like. People weren't voting FOR Bush, they just didn't want Kerry in the White House, and so on and so forth.

That's how i have felt for awhile. I voted for Ron Paul. He wanted freedom for people, wanted us out of wars, and wanted fiscal responsibility.
The first time I voted for Obama because there was NO WAY I wanted Sarah Palin ANYWHERE even close to Pennsylvania avenue... I would have voted for Oscar the Grouch over her.
what I did like about Obama, is that he put thru the Mortgage Modifications so that thousands of americans could keep their homes. I also liked that he pulled out of Iraq---the wars are not only so incredibly costly, added to the deficit---but our troops are EXHAUSTED. This volunteer army has been deployed, and deployed over and over. My poor bf has only spent 5 months home in the past 3.5 years. Its nuts. They are coming home mentally messed up, and the suicide rate is equal to the KIA rate. THAT is unacceptable.
Romney horrified me.. I swear he would have attacked Iran for no reason--- Iran could have been a country full of nuns, but because Israel hates them, Romney would have pounced. Just scary.
I also was fearful Romney would rid of planned parenthood. It provides medical treatment to uninsured women. Ppl just think "Abortion" when they hear planned parenthood and nothing else. I want those ppl to walk into one and see the services that are provided. In a country where Viagra is covered by insurance, but birth control is considered controversial--we NEED planned parenthood.

I completely agree.
I've seen the ad where Romney wants to get rid of Planned Parenthood. He's nuts. You are absolutely right. They need to go in and see first hand how it works. It's not black or white or cut and dry.
Romney is out of touch and doesn't know what it's like for ordinary people and what sickening is that some of those ordinary people who voted for him too blind or too dumb to see that he doesn't give a hoot about them.
Also, too, I think that all elected offices should come with term limits--there's something amiss when the highest office of our nation, the Presidency, has a 4 year term, yet one can make a lifelong career out of being a Mayor, a Senator or Supreme Court Justice.

That's why a lot of ppl voted for Obama the first time - even Republicans. Choosing that airhead as VP was McCains first mistake and it prevented him from becoming prez. Ppl recall that old saw "a heartbeat away from the presidency" look at McCain's old heart and it was scary.
The talking heads were comparing Romney's numbers with McCains and Romney did better. Well, Duh! He had that Munster boy as VP, not Palin.

Well... McCain pissed me off because he's rich--his wife's the chair of a busch beer distributor--one of the largest in the world. She's worth millions and millions. I realize that is her, but come on.. they been married for decades. He still collects social security, while also receiving VA benefits, gets the govt health benefits, and will collect congressional pension. IF he wanted my vote, she should have said, "I decline my benefits so that a homeless vet and an old lady eating cat food can live a better life" Instead he said, "I've been receiving social security since I was 65, the system is broken"... HELLO! Ur part of the freakin problem.
Romney touted that he gave $4 million to charity. He gave $4 Million to HIS church. I have no problem with church, his beliefs, or giving money to whom u want---its america. But don't claim u are giving money to "charity" which makes it sound like u are helping poor folks when u really gave it to one of the richest institutions in the country who only helps other members of the congregation---not to mention that tithing is a requirement of the church.
in order to say i gave to charity, go into Camden NJ, one of the most violent cities in the country and send some of those kids to boarding schools or college to get them off the streets so they stop killing each other--and actually have a chance at life instead of jail or the grave. Go help some kids whose parents are in jail---they are always forgotten. go build some shelters for homeless ppl.
I got so tired of hearing "romney shut down the business to go search for a missing girl" He SHOULD have... THAT is called compassion.. but it sounded like that was the only thing he ever did... cause no one could point to anything else worth mentioning.
My entire life all i have heard during elections is "social security, medicare, environment, jobs, economy" Come on people.. neither party has gotten any of it right in 30 years--- get ur freakin act together! All the politicians are the same.

and... if any of these politicians really want to impress me, then they should have jumped into the katrina water to pull people out like matthew mccaunehy or sean penn did. They should say, "I'm goig to seek the help of those two and Bono to try to brainstorm and come up with ways of helping people in need. I'm going to appoint them to certain positions to stay abreast of what we need to do to improve our society"
but all I ever hear is finger pointing--cause that is how u win elections.. u blame someone and tell them "u lost ur job because that guy didnt do his--- u cant afford college because that guy gives aid to the wrong student--- u pay more taxes cause he doesnt know how to spend ur money." it works.. tug at the heart and people vote.
Politics has been broken for a long time in this country and the biggest cause is the obscene amounts of money that special interest groups (conservative and liberal) are allowed to use to buy donate to politicians. Essentially, we don't really have elections anymore. We have auctions. It might not solve all of our ills and it will never happen but if I were ever dictator for a day, the first thing I would probably do is amend the U.S. Constitution to require all elections for public office be funded only with public money. It could be done. No one has to spend $20+ million for a seat in the U.S. Senate that pays $174,000 per year. The second thing I would do is prohibit ex-legislators from becoming lobbyists for at least 10 years after they left office. Hell...maybe for life.

I voted for Obama this time, but I'll readily admit that my enthusiasm for him isn't anywhere near where it was when I voted for him in '08. This time it was really a case of going with the lesser of the two evils, as opposed to voting for the guy who I thought would be great. And like most two term presidents, I suspect that 6 months from now Obama's approval rating will be at an all time low. I'm also worried that after two terms of him, our next president will be a Republican.

Obama is infinitely the lesser of two evils when it comes to Romney, but I don't think his Presidency was that bad. Yes, he had some missteps, but look at the mess he had to try to clean up.
Anyway, I predict the next President will be a Democrat. The Republican simply cannot get it together and the face of America is changing. We shall see what happens.

Her guy lost last night. I tried to cheer her up by reminding her that without Obamacare she probably would not be able to get the supplemental insurance she needs for her cancer treatments not covered by Medicare, currently running well over $2,000 a month. I am an evil daughter
I will never get the mother in this post. Why would someone vote against their own best interests? In the end what is good for me is good for others like me.

One of my cousins voted for Romney because (and ONLY because) Obama endorsed same sex marriage and that was enough to turn him off to Obama. He voted for Obama last time and said he would have voted for him again if he hadn't done that, and he admitted that he didn't even like Romney, but voted for him because of that. The whole family was looking at him like he was crazy.

THIS JUST IN:
Three days after the election (of which some Florida voters were still voting on Nov 7) we finally know that Obama also carried Florida, getting more electoral votes than needed.
Luckily Obama already had enuf votes to decisively be re-elected and Florida didn't hold up the election results, keeping the entire nation in suspense like it has done in the past.
We can thank our Repugnicant controlled state for this hangup, which was a conscious effort to curtail the working class vote that usually goes to Democrats by cutting days off of early voting, which caused great, time consuming lines at the polls for all the few early days and on election day into Wednesday.
The effort not only failed but showed the resolve of ppl who sacrificed their time and patience and some lost pay to insist that they would not be disenfranchised.
I only hope they all remember that when it is time to re-elect the T-Party Repugnicants like Governor Rick Snott if they dare to even try to run again.

I loved this from him. Very moving & sincere. Unlike the other guy whose campaign workers who had to find their own way home election night when the cards were canceled immediately following the loss. Obviously they couldn't be left to use indefinitely, but these people should have at least been able to get back home after all the time & work they put into the campaign. The contrast alone should make it clear to anyone who wasn't sure. We made the right choice.

I think they probably will. The Tea Party is dead. All we're waiting on is for the certificate to be signed to make it official.

at work, my brother and I have a "list of people who will shoot up the place someday". The list has dwindled over the years as people retired, however, someone has moved to the top of the list.
This guy who is staunchly republican came in on Wednesday saying, "This country just proved they are a bunch of lazy folks who don't want to work for a living and want everything handed to them. I'm ready to go join the Texas Nationalist Movement and help them get Texas to secede from the Union. I'm a totally different man today than i was yesterday."
The man he was "yesterday" scared the hell out of me. Thursday he came in with combat fatigues on, his head covered in a scarf, and war paint--- I shit u not.. WAR PaINT on his face. Some ppl are extreme-- and really scary
