Do you buy xmas gifts for friends or shop only for family?

I don't have many friends I buy for. Just the one or two I see on a regular basis. But, if during the month of Dec, I met a friend for dinner or something else, I would bring a small gift.

I buy only for a few close friends.

Yes, I almost said no that I only buy for family then I realized that I buy for more friends than family, it is just I think of those people as family. In fact one couple call us mom and dad, and we are about the only parents they have, they other is a woman we have known since she was a teenager, she is just 2 years older than our oldest child and she is now in her late 50's. We buy too for the man in her life but only out of fondness for her. This year we also have bought for our sons new significant other, she moved in a couple of months ago and we just don't really know her too well yet, but for as long as he loves her she is family.

A few for close friends. Of course I'll be buying gifts for my roommates and their kids.

Since I got married I have more friends to shop for during the holiday season. But not that many.

Come to think of it, no.

A few of my closet friends I exchange presents with, but for the most part I just send them cards in the mail.

Not all of them.

I have in the past but this time around family is going to be about it for me.
