Topic was prompted by a convo with an older relative who confronted her son about his time in prison (he did 6yrs) and his sexual activities while inside. Now, I am NOT SURE why she felt it was her place to question him about this but she said she asked him "were you at least careful inside doing whatever it is you all do in there or do you need to get tested?" and after he shockingly asked her to clarify what she meant, she basically told him that she isn't stupid. It's no way he was in prison for that long and didn't have sexual contact with a man. The conversation went downhill from there and they are not speaking right now.

How many of you feel that way? That if a man spends extended time in prison, he is guaranteed to have sexual contact with another man?

I never thought about it before, but it is interesting to ponder. I definitely do not think it is a given at all. I am sure most do not opt for gay sex when they are straight just because that is the only sex they can get. But this topic makes me wonder about how they feel about just getting a hug from someone. If a person is doing life in prison, they are never or rarely getting hugs. Just that lack of personal contact with another human being has to be difficult.

I have a cousin who spent almost a decade in prison. I'm afraid to even ask.

First off that was his business not the relatives and I would have just ignored the question. Secondly, I would think a Str8 man being confined for 6 years without female companionship is likely to have a homosexual experience in prison, not saying it would happen but likely. I think when a sexual situation presents itself to a man confined he is more than likely going to act on it.

Hmm. I remember watching the old talkshow OH DRAMA once where a guy who was in prison for 10 yrs talked about his experience. As he was talking, he brought up certain things he DIDN'T do in all his time there and one of those he said was engage with other men that way. So I guess it depends on who it is, where his head is at and his "standing" on the inside.

i was just reading a book that said that 60% of men do not consider oral sex as sex. 30% do not consider oral sex with another as cheating on a partner. Was a neat article. So if a survey was done, that said, "in prison did u have sex with another man" the answer might be different if the question read, "have you had intercourse or oral sex with a man".

honestly... i think some men are soooo homophobic that they would never do it. my brother wouldnt even buy a bronco cause the gear shift was too "phallic". there is no way in hell that he would be screwing a guy... i honestly think he would kill himself before that day happened.

LOL. What's funny how people assume that every man somehow wants or will accept sleeping with another guy in a desperation act. I know that current pop culture out here is very gay friendly, but believe or not....there are men who don't and who have no desire to sleep with another man in ANY situation. And to think they do or will lie about it is really stupid in and of itself.

I just hope I never have to find out!

We'd need to talk to some honest inmates and prison personnel to get a general idea of how likely things like that happen. Seems to me it would be one of those things that isn't very much out of the question, yet at the same time isn't an "absolute" either. But I agree that badgering a man who did time about something like this is damn near pointless. Would he admit it if he did? It's really one of those things that the ex-con would have to be willing to candidly divulge on his own. Asking someone something like this, that they would probably be too ashamed to admit, seems futile.

I know it's not right but I automatically think that. I just can't get "Oz" out of my head.

And if they're not doing a man, they're doing the warden--aka the cell slut. And I imagine she's burning something fierce.
