Would money be enough to make you quit your current job?

If you were offered another (similar) job that was willing to pay you ten percent more than what you earn now, would you take it?

If your current job slightly docked your pay by ten percent, would you continue working there?

Unfortunately in this economy at my age I am stuck in my job. But hell yes, I would leave in a heartbeat for a similar job elsewhere at the current pay even moreso with a raise.

And a couple years ago they cut my pay 25%. A friend in business immediately said they wanted me to quit, which I knew since the asswipe CEO who did it never liked me. Like your example the norm for pay cuts is 10%. However, I am stuck (I'm still making more than minimum so I could do no better leaving). The only recourse is to try to do 25% less work, which with my experience at the job I am able to do so it cuts out on stress.

It would depend on the location of the job, would I be able to take time off as liberally as I do now and the other politics of it.

I'd be pissed and definitely in the market for another one.

It would depend. I was recently offered a position that would allow me to still work from home, doing what I do now, for less money. The big difference would be they pay part of health insurance. It would save a ton of money. But, the deal breaker for me was if they decide to let me go, I have lost my client base.

Maybe, maybe not...but the offering job would probably have the edge in that war.

A) This type of question doesn't really apply to me. I signed a government contract that requires me to stay in my current service for a specific period of time (regardless of pay). So I would have no choice but to continue to work there whether there was a pay cut or not. It's the nature of the profession I'm in.

B) There is no amount of money in the world that would make me "quit" my current job. If I won the mega-millions jackpot, I would continue doing what I do (if they let me), at least until I was eligible to retire.
