Not so much the belief in god as the attempt to push it onto everyone else. I don't believe god exists but I'm fine that other people do provided they apply the standards & practices of religion to themselves only. It's when they refuse to do that we have seen problems & the harm that can be done.

I disagree. Anybody who uses the belief in God to 'cause problems would be doing that anyway and just use another excuse. I'd say that all of the world's problems (save for natural ones like storms or famine and such) are 'caused by people putting their own desires above God. Not that Godless people would ever agree with that. haha But the older I get, the more I observe this to be the case.

Not God, religion, there is a difference, religion is man's doing, leave anything to mankind and OF COURSE it's going to be more problems than it's worth.

I don't think Religion's even to blame. It's people's selfishness, plain and simple. It's greed, envy, hatred, lust, all of the vices. Religion is one excuse sometimes used, among many. Blaming God or Religion is passing the buck. It's plain ole "I want what I want and I'm going to get it no matter who I have to hurt" philosophy.
