Jeb Bush moving closer to 2016 run

The article is speculating that Jeb might be quietly lining up his deck chairs for a 2016 presidential run. Would this surprise you? If he did run, what do you imagine his chances would be?

Actually I prefer Jeb to his father and brother. He comes off as one of the more sane members of that clan. That being said, I wouldn't vote for him and I doubt he'd even make it beyond the primaries.

While the idiotic GOP would probably be stupid enough to try for another Bush, I would hope they're smarter than that. After 8 years of the wrecking ball of a president we have now, we'd waste our chances on Jeb Bush? Hopefully we'll be smarter. God help us all if we nominate another moderate Bush.

If a third Bush manages to take control of the White House, I'll be moving to Canada. I can only imagine with the excuse would be for a third war with Iraq.

I think it speaks a lot to the decay of our political system when the frontrunners for 2016 are Clinton and Bush...

I don't think another Bush will ever come close to stepping foot in that White House. The second one pretty much fucked it up for the rest of them. If the GOP wants to win again, they are not only going to have to moderate themselves, but have to stop nominating these old ass fogies as their representative. They need someone young and vibrant. YOUNG people are voting more now then they ever been. Keep ignoring them if you want to.....

He can make a play for it, but I really doubt he'd be successful. The sins of the father (and brother) would shadow him so hard that his campaign would collapse under the weight of it. Even if he were a Democrat, America's not gonna vote another Bush into presidency.....plus during his campaign, he would be dogged by how he helped Dubya steal that 2000 election.

Chris Christie is a more viable GOP choice than him.

what about his own sins/ he was the governor during the whole gore/bush counting in florida... there was so much wrong with that... dont even get me started. disallowing ppl to vote, classifying people as felons just because their names :sounded" black... it was disgusting. and HIS fault. so regardless of how i feel about his family... i already dont like him

I don't know if they will ever fully understand this. They tried to fake it in the last election. Romney picked Paul Ryan as the "youngblood" lol. Then Ryan talked about how much he loves Rage Against the Machine who made fun of him. When Michelle came out in that pink dress, next thing you know here comes Ann in one. Then she wore that absurd leathery dress after the pic with Biden & the bikers lmao. They don't get it. Doubt they ever will.

I don't think the Republicans or the Democrats will ever get it. But then again, I don't think the people will ever get it either. That's why the people vote for the same empty promises time and time again. They don't want a good president. They want somebody who can talk a good game and make a bunch of promises (usually for free stuff) he has no intention of keeping. Or they want some establishment old fuddy-duddy. It's why we haven't really had a good president in decades. We have the chances and we pass them up. The Republicans are stuck in some "let's compromise and try to copy the Democrats" game and the Democrats are stuck in the "let's pick the most radically left and unqualified dummy we can find" game.

We essentially have 2 failing parties. And we wonder why the country's in the tank? Again, the problem is perfectly portrayed in the fact that Clinton and Bush are the top contenders? Seriously?

I suppose I could just blame the politicians. But the people are the ones who give them power. Republicans (not, all but too many) eat their own and tend to prefer being ruled by Democrats over somebody who isn't 100% their favorite, and Democrats thrive on low-information voters who vote for celebrity and vague notions of free stuff (but have next to no grasp on real issues or where either candidate stands on them).

Our country's screwed up. And I doubt it'll ever be fixed at this stage. Bush or Clinton? America's doomed.

You make some very good points Lil Bro but IMO the last good president was Clinton. What are the people supposed to do when there is no one you want to vote for and you have to vote for one of the candidates even though you know they both are completely full of shit?

Not vote. That's what I do. I don't believe in wasting my vote on someone who I'm not sold on, just because the other guy seems worse.

LOL. I love it when people run their damn mouths and say absolutely NOTHING. If anyone had a REAL issue with politicians and thought both parties were inept, they wouldn't vote period. Don't try to make it seem like you're being partial bullshit of politics. Truth be told, we the people haven't run this country in decades. Money runs this country. And the powers that be are going to put whoever they want to put in that White House at the end of the day. All you're doing is voting for social issues. If a Republican candidate that was nominated was spitting the same anti-gay, anti-poor, Bible thumping, hateful rhetoric that they've been doing, your simple ass would be going right down to the voting booth to vote for them solely because you agree with it. You don't care about fixing the country or the bane of the existence of a primary two party system. Politics is a grimy industry, it's not changing anytime soon so get used to it.

I'm really not worried about him. This country still begrudges the Bush family and few see their legacy as commanders as a dark time for the country and basically a gigantic fail. Considering all that, plus the fact that social politics and opinions are shifting away from what this old school Republican family stands for, Jeb doesn't have a shot in 2016...when the country will be even more blue. It'll probably take another generation and a radical shift in politics for another Bush to even be seen a viable presidental contender.

All this talk of possible nominees is so premature to begin with that it's meaningless and besides, I don't want to have to think about another election cycle until the next general election in November and even that's too soon.
