Someone who you're not in love with and is worth half a billion dollars offers to marry you, would you do it?

Not today. But in the future, if I am single and I don't see any romantic prospects...maybe. If we were close in age.

It's as good a reason to get married as any IMO.

Side note: this happened to my dad once. A woman offered him 50k to marry her so she could be an American citizen. He turned her down but he told me that he really had to think about that one, lol.

Come on now, if someone worth 1/2 a billion dollars proposed to me, there's about a 8.5 out of 10 chance I would say yes.

I'm generally not for sale, but that price would be enough for write SOLD on my ass. :biggrin:

For the most part, no, but I guess in the right situation, I might say yes - depending on his reasons. It would depend on the kind of person he was and why he wanted to marry me and I'd need to feel at least some attraction to him. I'd want to know if he was a good person who obtained his money legally.

I could just say no, but I know nothing is definite.

It depends. If sex were involved, I would have to be physically attracted or it's no deal. If no sex were involved, it truly depends on the circumstances.

I would have to have a damn good reason, like I'm on the verge of financial depletion, or am in need of a boatload of money for an impending issue. I wouldn't marry someone wealthy, solely for the sake of having access to their good life. Plus when you sell yourself to someone like that, they essentially own a piece of you. The good life that they can provide, they can easily take away, and I imagine that both parties are keenly aware of who has the power and servitude.

Yup - that's why I'd be hesitant, Chris. I mean - if I was already in love with him and he happened to be a multi-millionaire, that would be different but to marry him just because he's wealthy? I wouldn't say it would never happen, but it would really depend on the circumstances and reasons and what kind of person he was.

I'd never marry a millionaire or billionaire anyway, all that money could buy them a lot of friends in high places and make you disappear off the face of the earth if one day he got tired of you or just turned into a full fledged psycho.

Yeah - age would be a factor for me, too. I was one this one dating website and this guy who was old enough to be my Dad was really offended when I told him I wanted someone close to my own age. Another guy was 30 years older than me and again, the same thing. I was totally grossed out. I don't know if I could fall for someone my Dad's age, even if he had lots of money.
