I really suspect this movie is going to be one that has the best parts in previews, like so many others. If they do well the box office, it shall only be due to the timing of release.

Re: Love and Other Drugs
It is one I plan to see this weekend.
I am required by my libido to watch any movie with Jake Gyllenhaal without clothes on. And that girl he plays with ain't bad looking either. Oh, if they act well it is a plus.

Love and Other Drugs
Movie Blurb by Shale
November 25, 2010
This was my foremost movie to see this long weekend. I'd watched the trailers for it and have to admit that I am always smitten by Jake Gyllenhaal onscreen. Anne Hathaway is really cute too, so we have a gorgeous couple to play off each other in a formulaic romantic comedy.
Except, there is a more serious issue in this comedy that makes it want to be a drama.
We open in the late '90s with Jamie (Gyllenhaal) a young, hunk of a salesman in an electronics store using his good looks and charm to make sales to everyone from guys to kids to old ladies and especially to young good looking women. Jamie was blessed with the ability to seduce almost any woman and he does. He has honed his pick up lines and strategies with success.
After he gets canned from that job for enjoying a female co-worker in the supply room he gets on as a sales rep for Pfizer pharmaceuticals, which is shown as a cutthroat business and he struggles to get an edge. Trying to connect more closely to the medical practitioners that he targets, he pays off a doctor to let him shadow him as an intern. This is where he meets Maggie (Hathaway) who is a young woman with stage 1 Parkinson's. (Did I say we were going to get into drama?)
Maggie is a free-spirit who sees thru Jamie's tactics, calls him on it but still takes him to bed.
Maggie & Jamie in Bed
She has her rules of not getting close to others and he has his appreciation of non-committal sex so the two are great for each other. For most of this movie it is comedic and Jake is really good at it (Or I just fell in love with his smile and followed along). Anyhow, Pfizer comes out with Viagra and Jamie lands the contract. Sales naturally go up, Jamie gets into the fast lane and he and Maggie are bouncing from her bed to his bed, where he is sharing his apartment with his brother Josh (Josh Randall) - always good for a couple of laughs.
Then Maggie starts having more symptoms, sees a bleak future for her and Jamie and pushes him away - and he sees the same thing and lets her. Oh, it pushes back and forth with this free-spirited afflicted woman and the carefree, irresponsible man - which turns this light comedy into a more serious drama.
I really enjoyed the movie. Of course you have to be prepared to endure the sight of Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway naked in many love scenes.

Love and Other Drugs
Anyone see it or planning to? I have been hearing very mixed reviews. Some say it's good, others say it's trash. The previews look okay to me, but not like a "must see." Although I do hear that the sex scenes are so racy that it was originally aimed at a NC-17 rating.
Anyone?
