Fairy Tale movies today

For years, there have been complaints about the Walt Disney fairy tale movies, like they took these great stories and made all the women helpless damsels and all that...and I for the most part have NOT seen these movies, and don't intend to, I never saw the Disney Cinderella, or their Sleeping Beauty, or I don't know, what are some of the others? I saw Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, LOVE that one, haven't seen the others and don't plan to. But I gotta say, today's fairy tale movies don't look like much improvement.

Okay, Princess and the Frog, at first it looked like 'well, might be good', then they brought in the oh so annoying prince who is sooooo stupid and full of himself, that sold me on NOT seeing it. And the new ones like Tangled and whatever the other ones coming out lately are...it seems they try too hard to be funny, and that's not the point of a fairy tale, it's supposed to be a story, a good story, and contrary to popular belief NOT cautionary tales for children, the original versions were for scholars and VERY disturbing with murder, incest, cannibalism, etc. So I don't know, it seems that there should be a happy medium, least of all when they're advertising them to us, something other than 'oh look at this cheap joke, ha ha ha' and all of that musical stuff nobody can stand.
