    Black Swan Empty Black Swan

Do you need to be a admirer of the ballet....which I'm not.....to have an appetite for "Black Swan" . No! This isn't really a dance film per se, although most of the story takes place at the NYC ballet, over Tchaikovsky's music.

This is the story of ballerina Nina (Natalie Portman) on the threshold of success and madness. As an adult she almost has the mind and shyness of a child. She has experienced very little outside this world. She lives with her dominating and controlling former ballerina mother (Barbara Hershey). A new lead for Swan Lake is needed, since the director (Vincent Cassel) has ditched the current dancer (Winona Ryder). Nina wins the part, but at a irrational hysteria.

"Black Swan" is probably not for everyone. On some levels this a horror story, with scenes that might make you close your eyes. Twisted relationships (Mila Kunis). Erotic fantasies. Paranoia abundance.

Many of the critics have already written Ms. Portman's name on the Oscar. BTW, she does many of her own ballerina numbers.
