    If I had kids.

    When I was a kid and got a lump of coal for Xmas, I would put it in a dish of water, sprinkle salt on it and watch the crystals grow like plants. Food coloring made it more interesting.

    Then they made these salvia pets that took all the fun out of it, 'cept the coal didn't need sunlight so it would work in the dungeon where I lived.

    No, never had one, never would. When my son was younger, I bought two little ceramic trolls that were made to have grass grow as their hair. They failed.
