Have you ever been on the radio?
Ever call up a radio station and have them broadcast you live? I did when i was high school, I called up the station just to ask them to play a song and still wound up being the 12th caller or whatever. They were giving away tickets to see O-Town (LOL). I won them but i didn't go. I gave them to this younger girl at school who I knew was a fan. I was just calling to request a song! Didn't even know they were holding out for the right caller #. Anyways they still put me on the air and I cringed listening to it. The next day at school, somebody in my class asked me if that was me they heard on the radio.

Re: Have you ever been on the radio?
Similar situation except I was calling to win. $100 & they broadcast the entire call & then made me do this "I'm blah blah & I just won $100 from yada yada yada..." Found out how much I hate the sound of my own voice.

Re: Have you ever been on the radio?
Yes. When I was eleven, the radio station back then would let people call and "rap" over an instrumental of Rob Base's "It Takes Two," and put it on. I don't know what got into me, but I wrote the corniest rap ever, called in and got through. They put it on the air and "Oh.my.God." I actually still have it on tape. I want to beat myself up thinking about how lame I sounded.

Re: Have you ever been on the radio?
Yes the radio station played a snippet of a song and you had to call in and guess the song. I got it right and I introduced the song when they played it in full.

Re: Have you ever been on the radio?
Not the radio, but a couple of times I have been interviewed on TV.
In fact, the write-up is still out on the Web for one of them, when the local TV station interviewed those of us in the Gainesville, FL Bisexual Alliance at a Gay Pride event.
BiWorld International News
August 1996
http://bi.org/biworld/us.html
Southeast Region
Bisexuals and transgender people received local network coverage on the ABC affiliate channel in Gainesville, FL. Members of the Gainesville Bisexual Alliance were each quoted twice, complete with our organizational affiliation under our names. This coverage was a focus on Pride events going on in the area. "Shale Stone" was quoted saying, "You don't have to be gay. You don't have to be straight. There's a lot of us who have a tendency that we can experience sexuality with either gender, and it's perfectly natural." The Gainesville Bisexual Alliance banner was shown briefly two or three times. Ann Shranz was probably the first person to say "transgender" on Channel 20, and "Shale Stone" was probably the first person to define "bisexual" on the local newscast. Gainesville is also forming its first transgender support group.

I wasn't but my son was interviewed by a radio station, at a sporting event. It was very cool, but we were in another state, so nobody we knew heard it.

I was on the radio playing guitar and singing, it was just a college station, when I was 16. I was a singer/songwriter and was "discovered" by the local music scene dj there.

Re: Have you ever been on the radio?
They used to do have this segment on the local top 40 station here called "Guess the Mystery Has-Been" (real cute right?) where they'd play ten seconds of an old song by a one or two hit wonder and then ask people to call and identify artist and title. The song was "I'll Be Your Shelter" by Taylor Dayne. I don't know why but I recognized the song and remembered the singer, called in and got put on.

I did, but it was just a cassette tape. It's REALLY awful too, if I remember right. Pretty embarrassing, but I got to meet Modest Mouse because they also were a local band at that time!
I have much better recordings because I married a sound man so we have our own studio...But even those are at least 8 years old and I have no idea where they are *sigh* Some day I'll get my kids to record me playing and I'll put it on YouTube and let you all see. I'm getting a new guitar from my husband for my tax return gift I'm so out of practice but I'm hoping my new guitar will motivate me to write more.
My guitar is an Ovation Celebrity but it's a little warped so it has a really annoying buzz, thanks to a moisture problem I had in my apartment 12 years ago.
