Since we're on the subject of writing, does anybody here do fanfiction, stories about their favorite movies, TV shows, comics, etc? fanficion.net is crawling with thousands of these kinds of people, stories for almost every category imagineable, and a lot of them are crap but depending on where you look you can find some good ones. Is anybody else into this kind of stuff?

I never got into it. I know there were some sites that had all sorts of Trek fanfic going on. Actually, I have never read any Trek novels, written by the same writers of the series. Guess I prefer the visual entertainment more than the literal.

One thing I like about fanfiction, if you didn't like the way the movie ended or the new direction the show took or how an episode ended, you get to correct it and do it the way you think it should've been, and sometimes it turns out a lot of people agree on how it should've been instead of how it was.

I had two ideas for stories I wanted to see. One especially got a lot of acclaim from some forum friends. So I eventually just decided to adapt my stories to original stories. It was pretty easy to do. Just had to make everything original.

I have to admit I'm not really into fanfiction, neither reading or writing it. With writing it, I would feel as though it wouldn't be originally my work, I mean, someone else already came up with the characters and stuff.

That's what I do, a few stories I'm working on for novels originated as ideas I hashed out for Highlander fanfiction, just take the immortal element out of it and they're still good ideas.

Could that include famous personalities in general? People we are not necessarily fans of, but just want to put the people into contrived situations in order to illict unconventional reactions?

Oh, since last February I have written my first piece of fanfic. It is an extrapolation of ideas that hit me while watching Twilight: Breaking Dawn.
