My first car was a 1991 blue gray Mercury Topaz that was rusted and had engine problems but when the going went tough was reliable. It was a sad day when it finally stopped running and I had to get it towed out of the driveway to the junkyard. What's more is that lately I been having dreams about the car and driving it.

A man never forgets his first car.
Mine was a ’57 Chevy six-banger. It had been painted burgundy and we called it the Burgundy Beast. Ate 50 wt reprocessed oil. I carried a gallon jug of it in the trunk. But it ran when other cars didn’t . It died on the side of a road. Rust In Peace.
I had another car after that, one that I fell in love with as a 12-year-old boy. Å ’56 Ford. However, when I got it a decade later it was whipped. This was a V-8 that really ran until it threw a rod on I-95 coming back to Fort Meade a day after this pic was taken at Camp LeJeune.

Re: Do you miss your first car?
Some fond memories of it, but I can't really claim to 'miss' it. I wound up sinking thousands more into it for repair work (seemed like every two weeks something new went wrong with it) than what the car initially cost to buy.

It was falling apart so bad that I couldn’t even use it for a trade-in but I still felt like I was having my dog put down when I took it to the scrape yard.

Re: Do you miss your first car?
Not at all. My first car was a piece of crap that would break down in the most inconvenient places. At red lights, stop signs, in the line at the bank. I was constantly embarrassed or stressed out because of the antics that wiener mobile used to like to pull on me. To add insult to injury my dad (who was the one who got it for me) used to push the whole "It gets you from point A to point B...be glad you're not walking" logic whenever I would complain. As soon as I was able to get rid of it, I did .

Re: Do you miss your first car?
My first car used to overheat and had battery and alternator problems. The day I was to start a new job I was almost late because suddenly it wouldn't start and sat there cunked out for 5 mins. I don't miss it at all.
