I saw Cujo many, many years ago, and can't really recall the details. I have it on the DVR and am not sure if my son should see it or not? Can someone fill me in on how disturbing it actually is?

I haven't seen it, as I'm not a fan of horror movies. Isn't that the Steven king one about the rabid dog?

Red, It's been a long time since I've seen Cujo too and I don't know what your son has been used to watching up until now, but one thing to keep in mind is that it isn't your typical "monster" movie. It's about an event that could happen in real life. IIRC, at least the little boy survives in the movie, unlike in the book. I don't remember that the movie was all that good to begin with so if you decide to give it a miss, he won't be missing much IMO.

Re: How scary is Cujo?
^^^Yeah, what he said.
I saw it in theater so that means it's been 27 years.
As I recall, the horror is that something so lovable can turn on you and the dog was large.
It was also a ridiculous movie as a rabid dog would not have such mental capacity to carry out all those suspenseful attacks - they usually go for whatever is near them, not stalk. Woulda been more 'real' if he were devil possessed like Christine.
The movie was just made for the fright moments and like Alan said a kid may not blow it off as easily as space aliens or other weird unreal monsters.

Re: How scary is Cujo?
Its pretty graphic Red there are scenes where the dog is tearing up his owner and other people. I don't know how old your son is but if he is over 13 then I would say its ok for him to see it. If you recorded it from network TV then they may have cut the graphic parts out. That was a very frightening movie one of my favorites

So which film was better, Cujo or Christine? I think they both came out at around the same time.

Definetly Cujo, Christine was a bit off the wall about a murderous car.

But the kid wasn't eaten by a dog in the book. That would've been over the top.alan smithee wrote:Red, It's been a long time since I've seen Cujo too and I don't know what your son has been used to watching up until now, but one thing to keep in mind is that it isn't your typical "monster" movie. Stephen King, from what I can tell without reading, seems to have a lot of similar stories.

Well, the DVR gods chose for me...it was supposed to have recorded but did not. Oh, well, next time. Next time I happen to catch it on guide, I will record and let him see it.
