When you were a kid, did you have sleepovers?

When you were a kid, did you have friends over for a sleepover, or slumber party or whatever you call it, or go to their house for one? And if so, were you allowed to have boys AND girls over or did you have to stick to just your kind?


I had a few slumber parties when I was 9 and 10 and then never after that, and we do not live in a neighborhood with a lot of kids, most of the ones who did live on the block moved away after a few months, so it was usually just one other kid, or two if my niece was visiting, but looking back now it's funny because every time I spent the night at a friend's house, it was always a boy. And I think that's funny because it doesn't seem very common, usually it's girls with the girls, boys with the boys, but not in my case.

How about everyone else?

As a little kid I slept over more friends houses than friends slept over mine. When I was a teenager and going through a destructive phase, my friends used to "babysit" me by sleeping over. I don't know maybe they thought I would intentionally or unintentionally kill myself if I was left alone, but I remember a lot of "crashing".

Always girls with girls and yes - as a kid I had them ALL the time. most Fridays, we'd walk home from school and stop at whichever friend wasn't hosting the party and then head to the friend who was hosting. Usually it was one or two of us but occasionally more. when I was in grade 5, my friend and I alternated weekends for most of the school year. If we weren't at her house, we were at mine. Things slowed down as we got into the high grades, but up until grade 9 or so, we'd still have them. Most of the sleepovers were between grades 5 and 8, though.

i had sleepovers, but it was mostly cuzns who slept over or id sleep over there, i had lots of close cuzns growin up, but yes i remember few frens stayin the night.
all that had stopped tho durin junior high.. after awhile it me "crashin" at a frens house

I had a few, but I recall mostly sleeping over other friends houses. Which reminds me of this one time when I was thirteen; I was sleeping over at my next door neighbors, and it was the summer. At around 10:30 that evening, his mom makes a comment about thirty more minutes to bedtime. I was shocked. Quickly, I made up this impromptu excuse about how my parents only said I could spend the evening there, but not stay over night.

My parents were strict, but not quite that strict. If I had friends sleeping over, and it wasn't a school night, they hesitantly backed on enforcing a 'bed time.'

Not really as a little kid but I did when I was a tween/teen.

Nah, but I kind of wish I did in hindsight. Probably would have but the opportunity just wasn't there.

I had them on a semi-regular basis from the time I was about 6-14 years old. After that it just got silly, I could see those chicks everyday at school or around the way. I didn't need to sleep with them.

Nope we were not allowed to have anyone stay over and we were not allowed to stay over anyone's house either.

Now that's strict.

Not very many, no. And I think the first one was when I was 14.

My mom was strict, and she used to say "you have a bed here at home to sleep in".

I could count on fingers and one foot how many times total, I either slept over, or had someone sleep at my house.

I don't think anybody woulda wanted to invite FM over for a sleepover anyway.

Why not? You would probably keep me awake then entire night I am sure of it.

Pornography? Yeah right! And when I was a kid, I wasn't into most of that. So I would've really been a drag!

I'd punish you for that so badly.
