One of the truly great films of the 1930's and arguably George Cukor's best piece of work.

This film is among the best casting in any era. While you may find Marie Dressler and Jean Harlow as the center of the film, I couldn't turn my head for one second when Billie Burke was on the screen. There was something special about this actress. Hey, but she was the daughter of a circus clown and married to Flo Ziegfeld. She was much more than Glinda the Good Witch

What may go unnoticed are the screenplay writers: Marion, Mankiewicz and Donald Ogden Steward.

What about some of your memories and favorites stars and lines. What are some of your other favorites from this cast:

    Marie Dressler
    J. Barrymore
    L. Barrymore
    Wallace Berry
    Jean Harlow
    Edmund Lowe
    Billie Burke
    Lee Tracy
    Jean Hershot
    May Robson
    Marge Evans

Harlow: "I've told you a thousand times not to talk to me while I'm doing my lashes!"

That whole scene with Beery and Harlow is a hoot

I hope you didn't miss it last evening on TCM

Sounds like a good movie, I have to look for it on TCM and record it.

Kitty (Jean Harlow): I was reading a book the other day.
Carlotta (Marie Dressler): (Shocked) Reading a book?
Kitty: Yes. It's all about civilization or something. A nutty kind of a book. Do you know that the guy says that machinery is going to take the place of every profession?
Carlotta: Oh, my dear, that's something you need never worry about.
