It shouldn't be. But you aren't above any mere mortal in this world in determing whether someone lives or dies. I don't care what position or power you're in.
If you're anti-death penalty because of the "innocence" card, you're anti-punishment. You can rant on all day how "it's different" but it's a moot point because the same logic applies to both. If it's wrong to execute somebody(almost always after MANY years anyway) because there's this very off chance that they may be innocent, it's wrong to toss them into certain lifetime trauma of rape and even possible murder because they may be innocent. So what the blood isn't on the state's hands? The innocent person is still dead because of them. If you throw a child into a den of lions, does it matter that the lions ripped him up and not you? Fact is, the "innocence" card can be applied to all punishment, not just the DP.
I'm anti death penalty because it's inhumane. The forefathers of this county banned creul and unusual punishment. And it's hypocrisy. There is no way you should make it against the law to murder and you turn right around and do the exact same thing solely because you are in the position of authority. It's sheer hypocrisy.
I notice a contradiction in your argument. You say it's wrong to execute because you could kill an innocent person yet death is the easier of the two options. Thus, you seem to suggest that innocent people rotting in jail for their lives is more acceptable despite being the more harsh of the two options? We can't execute them because they MIGHT be innocent; we have to make them suffer more! So let's make these people who MIGHT be innocent suffer more! Yeah, okay......
It's obvious you only read and hear what you want to read and hear. Because if you had an ounce of common sense, you'll see that nothing in my post alluded to the fact that innocent people should suffer in jail rather than be executed. There is a difference between killing an innocent person and letting a innocent person suffer in jail. Death is easy, but it's also permanent. At least if a person who's been in jail for a crime they didn't commit, there is still a possibility that they could be released. And sue the state for not doing there jobs properly. Guess what, if someone killed your mother and they excuted them.....he/she is going to be resting in peace just like your mother is. Chillin' six feet under just like she is. So what does that prove? Exactly what did you teach them? Esp if it's a mofo what has no remorse. That's what I meant by death being the easy way out. They don't have to consciously deal with the consequences of their actions. What if you did execute a person and find out later that they were innocent? What are you going to tell their family? "Oops, my bad. We should've been more thorough in finding the actual person who committed the crime". Please.
