Do you think that two people marrying should be required to take a blood test?

It used to be required, and I don't know that it would necessarily be a bad idea now; I'm guessing they don't still take three days to get the results on.

I know my wife and I didn't need one in 1983 to get married in Florida so I checked online and found that most states don't require blood tests any more.

It is a carry-over from the old untreatable syphilis days. I think a marriage blood test would be moot nowadays because most ppl are having sex before marriage anyhow.

Yeah, not many people are saving themselves for marriage anymore. Couples should be getting tested regularly regardless of their status, though.

I thought it was required? I don't think it hurts. Granted are having sex before marriage anyway, but you don't want to have any surprises afterwards.

We needed one in NJ in '83. I don't know if it's still required.

    Nope.

Montana, Mississippi, Indiana, Connecticut and DC are the only ones requiring it now according to that link.
