Which trait is the worse for someone to possess too much of....extreme cynicism or extreme naivete?

Extreme naivete....for sure. I wouldn't want things to be over my head so that I am taken advantage of, but that's just the extreme cynic in me!

Naivete, that's why it's so painful to watch Tim Bayliss on Homicide, because he's so innocent and naive and in with all these hardened pros of the homicide division, he never had a chance, as is evident by the last episode and the movie...now Munch on the other hand, he's always a hard cynic so it's easier to watch him and you relate more to him and you get that he's right about so many things which for the 90s were ahead of the times.

ITA about naivete - it's just painful to watch whereas I can dismiss someone who's cynical much more easily.

Naivete, but never-ending cynicism can be so irritating at times.
