Should women carrying baby #2 (or 3) have a baby shower?

Sure - why not. Each child deserves to be celebrated. The focus can change as the Mom might not need the same things, but the baby still deserves to be celebrated the same as the first child was.

In this economy it's probably needed. Doesn't bother me. Baby gotta have diapers.

It might be needed due to constantly changing regulations on baby products, as well as possible large spacing between kids. Really, if somebody wants to throw somebody a baby shower, that's really all up to them. There's no "should" either way.

I gotta go with the others, some things can be handed down from one child to the next, some toys, the crib, maybe some clothes, but with every child you also need new, and especially the diapers and stuff are not a luxury, and not cheap either.

I wouldn't call it poor taste unless it's the pregnant woman who is the one organizing it. Don't know anyone who does that though. If her family/friends/co-workers want to throw another and another and, etc., so what?

Taste or not, it has kind of gotten lost. I haven't been to a baby shower, other than in work, in a very long time. People I know are so busy, no one has time to go anywhere or do anything.
A second shower might be good, even if baby #1 & #2 are the same sex and close in age, if one is born in August, and the next in February. Climate differences!
Here in work, we will have a party over anything. Just to get away from our desks. We once had a party when a guy adopted a dog.

It's news to me that this would be considered poor form. I know a few women who had baby showers with their 2nd,3rd,4th child.

Of course. If someone is throwing it, why not?

Is it in poor taste if the woman having the baby, be it #2, #3, #4, is well-off, good-paying jobs, etc, and the people invited to shower after shower are not so well-off?
