| They say every family has rarely mentioned hidden secrets and dirty laundry behind closed doors. Are there any significant 'issues' that your family has that you all rarely discuss, even amongst each other?
Just to get the ball rolling, my mom's family are racists. Her parents, my grandparents, practically disowned her when she married my dad. Her brother, dead for about twenty years now, ran with some hate circle.
My mom told me about an episode, from before I was born, where my parents having marital trouble and separated; my eldest sister was about four years old and my second older sister was still a baby. My mom called and asked if she could move back home with her parents for a little while. Her dad said that the she could, but that the girls couldn't. Needless to say my mom didn't go along with that stipulation, and had to stay with a friend instead. Because of how inconvenient that was, my parents separation didn't last long.
We don't talk about it, because it's upsetting, and because the general consensus is that it's just not worth dwelling on.
So that's my family confession. If you have one, you don't have to go into detail, I was just wondering.

| I have too many to list, only the thing of it is is that my mother will tell anybody she's talking to who she has known for a short while. | |

| I have one that nobody else knows about. It's kind of like having a brick lodged in your lungs. | |

| I got a special needs cousin who is always there and included, but nobody ever talks about her condition. When she around we just smile and act extra nice and leave it at that. | |

| My grandfather was an Ah-nuld, in that he had at least 4 kids, besides the four he had with my grandmother (the youngest was my father).
Two of his 'other' kid were twins, and one was about the same age as my dad. When I heard about it, my mom was telling me and I was agog. My dad just stayed quiet, and when I announced I had aunts and an uncle, he told me I didn't, as there was no marriage.
That is the way my father dealt with it, his dad and the women weren't married, so it didn't count. A coping mechanism, but who's to say how people deal with things.

| There are a few, but in general....it's not that serious. My father's family (his mother and aunt esp) are some of the fakest people you'll ever meet. Like to smile in your face and talk about you behind your back. So whenever I would hear of something going down or what went down in that family, I usually just let it go in one ear and out the other. | |

| I had couple of crazy uncles on both sides....both of them had issues and they both died, but I have no idea how. The families don't talk about it. | |
