Catherine Kieu Becker, 48, is under arrest for chopping off her husband's penis and tossing it in the garbage disposal.

After she laced her husband's food with an unknown drug or poison, he lay down, believing something was wrong with the food, according to police reports. Her husband then woke up tied to the bed as Becker cut off his penis with a knife. She then threw the genitalia in the garbage disposal and turned the disposal on, Lt. Jeff Nightengale of Garden Grove, Calif. police, said.

Nightengale said the couple is going through a divorce, but could not confirm why Becker wanted to cut off her husband's manhood.

Becker eventually called 911, asking for medical assistance. When firefighters and police arrived on scene, Becker told officials that her husband "deserved it," said Nightengale. Police found the man, who remains unidentified, tied to the bed and "bleeding profusely." Becker was arrested on several charges, including aggravated mayhem, false imprisonment and assault with a deadly weapon.

Her husband was rushed to University of California at Irvine Medical Center for treatment.

"He is in stable condition, but we have no details about the surgery," said Nightengale.

"Police were able to recover portions of the penis from the garbage disposal," Nightengale noted, but it is unclear how much or whether doctors will be able to reattach them.

"The immediate issue here is to control the bleeding," said Dr. Alasdair Conn, chief of emergency services at Massachusetts General Hospital, who said that the injury is quite unusual, even in the emergency room.

Upon his arrival, doctors need to tie off arteries and veins to stop the bleeding. Surgeons will attempt to maintain the remaining tissue and cover the wound so it does not get infected, Conn said.

If the penis is available to reattach, Dr. Ryan Terlecki, assistant professor surgical sciences-urology at Wake Forest University, said it should be wrapped in saline-soaked gauze, placed in a plastic bag, and the bag then should be placed in an ice bath to keep cold.

"Time is of the essence for a re-implant," said Terlecki, who has performed a handful of such procedures. "It's best to reattach it within 24 hours, preferably less than eight hours."

Doctors then reconstruct the nerve arteries and veins, while also putting the erectile tissue back together.

Urine control will not likely be affected because the muscle that causes the sensation to go to the bathroom is outside of the bladder. That muscle probably went untouched during the assault, Conn said, but a Foley catheter will likely be inserted into the bladder to drain urine, which is also "a relatively straightforward procedure."

If doctors cannot reattach the original penis, Conn said, "over the next few days, surgeons have to decide what to do to reconstruct the penis. Plastic surgeons who specialize in transgender operations may be able to construct a new penis."

Terlecki said that the penis is recreated by grafting tissue from another part of the body and then augmented with a penile prosthetic.

With the prosthetic, a man can still "urinate and have sexual relations and ejaculate.There's usually not the same force of ejaculation, but plumbing for that purpose is still intact."

Except that Lorraina Bobbit threw it away. This guy must've seriously pissed his wife off to get this reaction from her.

It was obviously some sort of revenge. Maybe he cheated, or perhaps raped her.

Unless it was in self defense (and it doesn't sound like it was) she should do some jail time. I hope she thinks it was worth it for whatever he did or she thinks he did to her. If he had bled out, she should be charged with at least 2nd degree murder.

Sounds like more than a simple divorce. Makes me want to hear her reasons, unless she's just psycho, which may be the case.

That may be, but given the details of the crime, it's obviously VERY personal, she'd have to be psycho to just come up with the idea to do it at random with no provocation, but I agree, I'm interested in hearing WHY she thinks he deserves it.

There could be a million reasons. Maybe she doesn't want the divorce or for anyone else to have him. Maybe he cheated. Maybe she's not all that bright & thinks she will get a similar deal to Lorena Bobbit. Maybe she's just a crazy bitch.

And maybe it's because of something that he did. I'm not justifying it but the last case I heard of where a woman cut off a man's penis was a woman whose father had sexually abused her as a child, nothing was ever done to stop him and he currently had her young nieces staying with him, so it was her solution to ensure he couldn't abuse anymore girls. This isn't something that it just randomly happens for no reason like something as impersonal as being shot or stabbed, that happens all the time and for no reason, but something like this, I think there has to be some kind of motive behind it.

ITA Supernova. There has to be more to the story than the reporters are saying. NOrmal people don't go around doing stuff like that. Either this woman has serious mental issues or there's some deep-seeded mental anguish behind it. If she just ahted the guy, ITA that it would have made more sense to go after him with a gun or a knife. To go after him the way she did speaks to something pretty seriously wrong between them.

Exactly, because it wasn't just bad enough she cut it off, she didn't just throw it away like the other women do, she put it in the GARBAGE DISPOSAL. That sounds to me like she wanted to take no chances of it being reattached, and why would somebody do that?

A CALIFORNIAN woman was in custody overnight accused of cutting off her husband's penis before tossing it into the garbage disposal.

Catherine Kieu Becker, 48, allegedly drugged the man's food to render him unconscious, tied him to a bed and then hacked off the reproductive organ with a knife, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Her 51-year-old husband - by now awake but gushing blood from his crotch - could do nothing as she allegedly tossed the severed penis into the garbage disposal before switching it on.

Ms Becker reportedly rang police herself who arrived at the couple's house in Garden Grove, about 48km southeast of Los Angeles, to find the man still bound to the bed. He was untied and rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery.

Ms Becker reportedly confessed to officers she had drugged her partner's meal before carrying out yesterday's gruesome attack.

She was arrested on charges of aggravated mayhem - punishable by up to life in prison - as well as false imprisonment, assault with a deadly weapon, administering a drug with intent to commit a felony, poisoning and spousal abuse, the Times reported.

"The intention by this person was to permanently deprive this victim of his genitalia," said Garden Grove Police Lt. Jeff Nightengale.

It was interesting to see my co-workers reactions: The men said, "She killed his manhood, she should be put to death!" and the women said, "Why'd she do it?" Makes u wonder if more women have thought about it than who have acted on it. hmmm

Oh I think we all think about a lot more stuff than people are willing to give us credit for. That's kind of funny, by their responses, the men don't care WHY she did it, the fact that she did it is all they need to know, but the women want the details, as do we here. There has to be more to it than just the act itself, there had to be something behind it.

WESTMINSTER, Calif. -- Prosecutors say an argument over houseguests led a Southern California woman to cut off her estranged husband's penis and put it down a garbage disposal.

Catherine Kieu, 48, was charged Wednesday with torture in a case that has garnered international attention and could land her behind bars for life.

Kieu appeared briefly in Orange County Superior Court in a navy blue jail jumpsuit, hiding her face with her long, dark hair. She was appointed a public attorney and denied bail.

She was placed in the jail's medical ward to be psychologically evaluated, sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino told the Orange County Register.

The petite woman whose chains clanked as she shuffled into the caged area of the courtroom where inmates are held will return to court July 22 for her arraignment, which was continued on Wednesday, and a bail review hearing.

Kieu and her husband were still living together in a Garden Grove condo that he owned. He had filed for divorce in May, and they argued before the attack about friends staying at the condo, authorities said.

On Monday night, police say Kieu spiked a meal and served it to the victim.

The 60-year-old man started to feel sick and went to lie down, then awoke tied to the bed as Kieu attacked him with a 10-inch kitchen knife, police said.

She then put the penis down a garbage disposal, police said.

Lorena got the attention because she was the first that was widely publicized & she didn't go to prison. Doubt this crazy bitch will be so lucky.
