Have you ever hired a family member for something? If not, does anyone in your family have any kind of skill that you could see employing someday?

Re: Hiring family
Yeah, I have. I've hired my uncles to fix my car.

Re: Hiring family
My husband hired a niece to fill the receptionist job and it became a headache for him. He wouldn't do it again.
One of my brothers does carpentry and is quite good at it ~ I would hire him (but he's over 900 miles away). One of my brothers-in-law is a good auto mechanic but he's clear up in Seattle.
But, honestly, I don't like to involve family if I can avoid it.

Re: Hiring family
I worked for my brother's auto body shop. The whole time I had to put up with her jerk of a friend/partner. my bro always told me how good his last manager was and told me to be more like her. Eventually i left because of the partner and he hired the old manager back. Then he yelled at her to be more like me! lol

Re: Hiring family
I think hiring family can bring challenges, as has been pointed out. It would depend on the relationship and how close the family was and how long you were hiring someone for and for what.

Re: Hiring family
My father has hired me to work for him and other family members. Eh, it can work out....but most of the time....it doesn't.

Re: Hiring family
My guy hires his brother for jobs on new home construction and repairs all the time. I don't think it works very well, but it pisses me off, so I don't even ask about it anymore.
