We loaned our son $1200.00 He has been a coin collector for many years. He also buys junk silver and gold for resale to a big coin store in Vancouver. He bought a lot of silver dollars from a neighbor (who still thinks he got to our son). Our son turned around and sold most of the coins as junk silver, paid us back and kept a few of the silver dollars that might have a bit more value as coins. A good profit was made.

We "lent" one of my wife's brothers $1,500 a number of years ago for legal expences. He doesn't have a pot to piss in so we didn't expect to be repaid.
We had to borrow a more than that from her mother and other brother on two separate occassions when my wife's engine shit the bed and she was injured and out of work for a year but we paid back every penny.
