Tennessee Wants to Ban Teenages From PDA (Because It's a Gateway to Teen Pregnancy) Story

MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A bill that could let parents sue teachers for their kids actions was waiting Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam's signature Friday night, after the house passed the "gateway sexual activity bill."

State Rep. John DeBerry (D-Memphis) delivered a fiery speech on Friday in support of the bill.

"We got laws where guys can out and make babies and all they got to do is take the baby to the 7-Eleven and leave the baby at the 7-Eleven, hey we'll get the baby and for the next 20 years we will pay for the baby," he said.

"What we are doing is creating a society where there is no consequences. We tell people they can do whatever they want to do, don't worry about it," he added. "We are all going to pick up the mess, you make your mess, we are going to come right behind you, we are going to clean up your mess."

Teacher's advocates say the bill adds to already overburdened teachers, while supporter of the bill say a student's mind should be the only thing being stimulated at school.

"I don't think it should be allowed anyway, why would you come to school to be kissing and doing all these unnecessary things," said Malon Dobbins.

"How can we stop kids from hugging and kissing when we at home, we can't really make them," said Shanika Batts, a mother of four.

The bill also requires teachers to "exclusively and emphatically" teach abstinence in the classroom.

What a bunch of ignorant asses! But hey, it's Tennessee, one of the old Babble Belt states that helps Florida not look so fucked up.

All those illiterate doofuses should be required to read Romeo & Juliet. A story about teen lovers in a very strict no-physical-contact world over 400 years ago. Or I can tell them about a 17-year-old Moslem girl in a very strict no-physical-contact world in the 1960s and how we made love.

These guys better stop smokin' that Jimson Weed on work days.

If the bill passes, it's more proof that most people don't value "education" in Tennessee. Teachers are one of the most under valued commodities in society right now. Let's introduce a bill that makes them responsible for the actions of other people's kids too. My kid decides to hold hands with some chick in class, and his teacher gets fired. Brilliant! What an incentive to go out and teach right now.

I doubt that this bill will really pass (even in the south), but one can never predict the weather. If the schools are actually teaching sex education at the appropriate age, then the burden should no longer be on their shoulders. 16 and 17 year old's need to take responsibility for their own actions and parents need to be responsible for their children. Teen pregnancy shouldn't be a problem for the school or for "society" at large. It should be a problem for the fucking irresponsible parents! You cannot legislate responsibility and common sense into people.

Jesus H. Tap-Dancing Christ. He's pissing and moaning about the need for personal responsibility while sponsoring a bill to allow parents to sue teachers over their kid's behavior?

I'll give him this. He's an eloquent public speaker!
"We got laws where guys can out and make babies and all they got to do is take the baby to the 7-Eleven and leave the baby at the 7-Eleven, hey we'll get the baby and for the next 20 years we will pay for the baby," he said.
That's sure to go down with The Gettysburg Address and MLK's I have a Dream.
