Are you an organ donor?

Some people think that it should be mandatory for ALL people to be organ donors, and I guess that's not an unreasonable thing to think; a lot of people need transplants, there aren't enough available organs to get to everyone, it's a big mess. But, all the same, I for one am NOT because I really don't think by the time I'm dead, ANYTHING of mine is going to be in any shape to give to anyone else and I wouldn't want doctors to have a go-ahead on it notwithstanding.

You would HOPE that doctors would NOT take damaged organs just so they can do quick solution transplants to make more money, but you never know, and even dead I don't want any responsibility of that coming back to me because 60 years ago I signed a card for it.

Technically, no, I still have all my original equipment but I"ve had it indicated on my driver's license for years that they can have anything of mine when I'm done with it. I'm pretty cynical but I don't think doctors would harvest damaged organs to make a buck.

What...as if they're going to exhume you for a law suit? Or if you did make it into Heaven, they're going to ask you to leave?

I've been an organ donor for decades. IDK if there is a cutoff age, but my organs are 66 years old.

Mine are getting up there in age too. Let someone else care about that. I know it won't be me by that point.

Don't see any reason for someone to object to being an organ donor. It isn't as if they're gonna kill you for your organs. Or will they? If I die and someone can use my reefer filled lungs, then have at em.

I'm an organ donor, but I haven't donated any yet. My husband just got called up as a possible bone marrow match for someone...

I am, for sure. what Graywolf said…there isn't any ethical reason why I shouldn't be.

I am not and I do have my 'conspiracy theory' about this. I'm not opposed to donating my organs, but it's not listed on my driver's license and it won't be. I'll tell whoever in charge of my affairs to donate 'em. Yeah yeah, you can all say it's a crock of bull that they won't try as hard to save your life if you get in an accident because of your organs or whatever, but I damn ain't trying to found out if it is or not.

I'm an organ donor but haven't donated anything. Without organ donation, my aunt would have died 7 years ago.

I definitely don't think it should be mandatory - it's everybody's body for themselves! But I am an organ donor. I still have all my parts with me and when I'm dead anything that is pretty good shape, well, stick it in somebody else if that will work. What the hell am I going to do with it, deader than a doornail?

I agreed to be an organ donor and don't understand why someone would oppose the idea, but I agree that it shouldn't be mandatory.

I don't think it should be mandatory, but I would really have to ask *why* anyone would be against being an organ donor in death. I indicated on my drivers license that I'm willing to be.
