    I am really wondering now what the difference is?

    Used to be, Hotels.com was a better deal always. Now, I am seeing that booking direct is the same, or maybe even better. A place I am looking at for Saturday is actually cheaper when booked direct by $80. They have it right on their site that they are cheaper than booking sites.

    since i work for a hotel, i go thru the website, its the only way to get my special employee rate big grin

    I usually book directly. I've never done it the other way, but I can't help but think that something is more likely to go wrong if you rely on electronic booking over speaking to someone directly.

    I'll do either or. I find out which method is the cheapest and go with that. You can find a lot of good deals and discounts online and since that's how I book most of my flights, I'll book the room online as well. If I just need a hotel room, I'll call the hotel I'm looking at as well as look online.

    I prefer booking sites, and just print out the receipt.

    I've used Hotels.com for my almost annual trips to DC, Chicago & New Orleans since 2004 and never had a complication.

    Always anxious that I'll get there and no one will know anything, but that never happened.
